Fashion is more than just a glamorous lifestyle!

A Day for Kicks

I own a lot of sneakers but rarely ever wear them. Not because I hate them but between work and school they just don’t fit the requirements.  Wearing sneakers is a rare occasion for me BUT! there are those days I’m in the mood to throw them on.

When I get dress, it can either take a long time or  no time at all. You see my outfit has to match my current mood and or achieve a certain look I envision. I take all elements into perspective and go through multiple selections until I’m completely satisfied from head to toe. My clothes genuinely are a form of self-expression.

On the day of this outfit it was blazing outside and I immediately knew I wanted to wear a cropped top. When thinking of a bottom piece, jeans were out the question so I narrowed it down to shorts or a skirt. I ended up wearing a pair of  boyfriend style shorts because I considered it to be a good fit while my mid section showed.

I choose a long necklace to somewhat balance out the open area between the top and the shorts. Using a thin belt also helped even out the look, and I was opposed to just having belt loops show with no belt. A thinner braided belt also gave a feminine touch to the shorts.

You can call me Hera for short. I would describe myself as a free spirit, eccentric, wild flower; lover of fashion, art, and everything in between. My mind is filled with soooo many ideas…it gets kind of crazy up there. I’m working on perfecting the translation, but sometimes I wish I could just take a snap-shot of my visions instead. I’m all for trial and error though. It makes life thrilling. You know… taking risks, succeeding, trying, and failing, with intentions to be better. All in all I feel good about where I am in life. I’m sure of myself. Like Janelle Monae said, “I feel myself truly becoming the fearless person I have dreamt of being.”
